A
SURREAL SKETCH -- ORIGINAL PICTURES OF UNICORNS
One of two original pictures
of unicorns on display in the online gallery, this unique
and surreal sketch revisits a private moment (between a unicorn
and maiden) interupted, from a different angle: what if a
man had come between the two? The wicca (or "wise woman")
looks back on the decision. A certificate of authenticity,
signed by the artist, is included with purchase.

ARTIST
NOTES:
This
is actually one of the earliest crossover pieces: 1) the artwork
moves the unicorn from a fantasy background to a distinctly
surreal fine art setting; 2) three inking fields (crosshatching,
stippling and contourism) make a joint appearance in one work
of art. Soooo as an early, crossover work it could be particularly
valuable to a collector <g>.
The name of the artwork refers to the subject matter: looking
back on decisions made in the past. This is symbolically represented
by the appearance of the wicca ("wise woman") at
the bottom of the picture :)
The
female face at the bottom and the male face within the cloak
are actually based on an old Calvin Klein advertisement (black
and white). I forget where the other image came from... I
'think' the young lady was quite nude and I actually added
clothes to her. A teacher once told me that you can't draw
someone with clothes on unless you know what their body is
doing underneath the clothing, so I started sketching nudes.
Somehow I usually ended up forgetting to put the clothes back
on the figure <lol>. I also have quite the Playboy collection
because of that piece of advice. Too funny.
This is the second of two original pictures of unicorns in
the drawing gallery (one pencil, one pen & ink) which
touch on a moment interrupted: between the maiden and her
unicorn. Each original work of art takes completely different
approaches to the subject, from completely different angles.
Both pictures of unicorns are important works showcasing major
artistic development and would make an excellent addition
to any serious fine art collection :)
